Pleasantries of the Day
Run: None. Another super early rise to deliver my car for a detail cleaning compliments of a fundraiser "win" a few months back. As a thank you, I treated my housemate to breakfast at Norske Nook where we enjoyed potato pancakes and Norwegian pancakes topped win ligonberries!
Read: "...the longer things went well, the more confident I became, and soon I was again ignoring instructions with predictability disastrous results...the ancient Israelites struggled with a similar tendency..." ODB
"We may expect terrible things t happen...but the Lord says, Don't be afraid. 'When these things begin to take place, stand up and lift up your heads, because your redemption is near.'"
"Learning Bible texts and Christian songs by heart is a preparation which we can all do today." CTB
Additional pleasant moments in the day...lunch with a friend I don't see often enough, the opportunity to talk about grief with a friend who is grieving, a good conversation with the car cleaning people about spiritual matters including their journeys to faith, which was encouraging.
Yet by the time I arrive at home despite the beauty of the day waiting to be enjoyed I feel spent - and perhaps "stuck." The newly joined weekly group is using a book called Stuck...and one of the first assignments is to identify where I am "stuck." There are some triggers that can often push me toward the slippery slope...into a stuck place. And as my favorite says, "everything is worse when you're tired." I am tired. Long day. Lots of social output. Sleep restores. Tomorrow is new. It doesn't seem profitable to delve into "stuckage" tonight...
