Stop the Noise -- Feed the Soul
NOISE.
Do you ever have a day when you just can't get away from the noise?
Sounds inside and outside...
In my ears and in my head...
From those I love and those I tolerate...
Sounds of joy and sounds of trouble...
The voice of should haves and could haves...
On those days our souls need to be fed, yet all too often we reach for "fast food."
binge-watching sipping wine eating ice cream scrolling social media
reading romance novels oversleeping medicating shopping
While these may distract us for a moment from the weary void inside, they do not restore. Our souls need rest. Silence is one thing that provides that rest, yet jumping into silence is a bit of a leap for some. That will be a topic for another post.
Today, perhaps, your soul can find refreshment in the beauty of music. I am not a music person. The number of songs downloaded on my phone/computer: zero, zilch, zip. Yet, there is something mysteriously enchanting in beautiful music. I recently came across this piece (see below), which lasts an hour! I encourage you to give it a try! All who hear it will benefit, so turn up the volume and allow your soul to rest.
